KTRDC: The Kentucky Tobacco Research and Development Center (KTRDC) conducts and supports unique research programs that examine new agricultural crop opportunities based on tobacco and other plants. It is located on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington KY.

LBNL: The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is part of the national laboratory system supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and is managed by the University of California. PETRO: A DOE-sponsored ARPA-E program, Plants Engineered to Replace Oil (PETRO) looks to breed or genetically engineer plants to boost energy-per-acre by increasing abilities to capture and convert solar energy. (accessed April 2013)

UC (University of California): Opened in 1869, the UC system today has ten campuses, more than 220,000 students and more than 170,000 faculty and staff. The employees and students are engaged in cutting edge research that have generated jobs, products and revenues.  UC manages three National Laboratories, Lawrence Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos.
